Description
Simply one of the loudest emergency whistles available!
This Sharx Fox 40 whistle is one of the most rugged and reliable pieces of survival equipment you will ever carry, we always carry one, and it is so loud you can hear it up to one mile away!
• No moving parts, so it works in any weather conditions and never lets you down
• Unbreakable ABS plastic that does not stick to cold or frozen lips
• 4 internal chambers means it is incredibly loud with effortless blowing
Lyle first came across the Sharx Fox 40 emergency whistle at the Canadian Search & Rescue Conference, and he brought two back to the UK to test. The acid test for us was if Scott’s young kids could use this whistle effectively, because the time that you are going to need this, in an emergency, is when you are most likely out of breath or injured – they worked so well Mum took the whistles off them!
So whether you are orienteering, doing your DoE or out for a hike, pack one of these Sharx Fox 40 whistles into your rucksack as a permanent failsafe.
Emergency Instructions
Europe – 6 quick blasts – repeat every minute.
Rest of world – 3 quick blasts – repeat every minute.
Caution – Do not blow a Fox 40 Sharx whistle directly in a persons ear.

This latest red and blue incarnation from Fox might change those views, it is the true whistle from hell.
Unlike most whistles the sound comes out on both sides rather than the top giving it some proper direction and improving the chances of it being heard. Being pea less, like all Fox whistles, means there are no moving parts to clog up.
A few full powered test blasts in the garden must have woken up everyone in the neighbourhood. Even outside it is just about bearable on the ears of the blower.
Heed the warnings about not blowing it while standing next to someone, you’ll hurt their ears.
And, don’t blow it indoors or your ears will really be ringing for a long while.
All in all a truly awesome piece of kit that I would recommend to anyone who goes on the hill.
I hope I never have to use in anger but I know it will do the job if I need it.

What a beast of a whistle there is simply no way anyone can fail to hear this….

I’ve just replaced my primary whistle with one of these and yes, it is definitely loud! I will be pulling my hat well down over my ears if I ever have to blow it "in anger". However, in an emergency, surely the louder the better as more chance of being heard and attracting attention. The whistle is sturdy. No moving parts to get broken. Slim profile, so unobtrusive under clothing if you choose to wear it on a cord around the neck.

This is a great update on the fox 40 classic.

This exceeded my expectations in terms of volume… it scared my kids when I tested it in the house and sent the cats flying!

This has to get the loudest whistle ever. It will do your lugs in if you are too near when blown!
TRM –
If a very, very loud whistle is what you seek. This will delight and deafen you.
Tony Murphy –
Very bloody loud. Just what you need in an emergency.

Love the whistle! I have only even blown it once during SAR Training, so loud can’t exactly blow this in my neighborhood without good reason. Not only is this loud but the quality of the sound it made was really clear. It’s one of my favorite tools on my backpack.

Very loud survival whistle I bought for Xmas for a friend who goes out rock climbing in remote places in Australia and the US.
I tested it indoors and found it made my ears ring. So if it is blown outdoors do expect to make everyone nearby switch their attention to you.
For emergencies only I think!

I know that in space no one can hear you scream but I’m sure you’d hear this whistle on the moon. It’s a whistle. It’s loud. And the shape makes it easy to find in the dark.
